Through intentional leadership, sustainable practices, and environmental education, Buckhorn Camp seeks to model responsible outdoor ministry for campers, retreat guests, and our broader community.

Earthkeepers Project: Rethinking Waste at Camp

Last year, Sean Orner, Buckhorn's Camp Director, was a graduate of the Global Ministries EarthKeepers program, an initiative that equips leaders to develop and implement meaningful environmental projects.


This work reflects Buckhorn's dedication to:

  • Reducing environmental impact
  • Promoting sustainability in camp operations
  • Expanding conservation education
  • Strengthening long-term stewardship planning


This effort has lead to the development and implementation of sustainable waste management solutions for Buckhorn Camp with the goal of not just reducing waste, but modeling responsibility and care in a tangible way. We aim to create a culture that doesn't just enjoy nature but takes action to protect it--this is one of many chances to lead by example and foster a sense of stewardship that may start small but can grow strong.
